Comment by the Artist
I wanted to create a book that explains ADHD in a way that’s often hard to understand through words alone. Writing this book was by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I truly wanted to get it right.
Before I received my ADHD diagnosis at 28, I always felt out of place - like an “alien.” With this book, I want to reach people who feel the same way: to remind them that they’re not alone, and to give them a voice through my visuals.
I truly hope this book brings value and a bit of comfort into your life.

Book Description
Candid, comforting, and practical, this graphic novel offers an endearing portrayal of the ups and downs of living with ADHD.
Kiki has always felt different from other people. She loses track of time, daydreams when she should be paying attention, questions the rules, and feels things more intensely than her friends. But through trial and error (and error and error), she begins to discover her own ways to succeed and connect with the people around her.
Eventually, she uncovers a truth that changes everything: she has been living with undiagnosed ADHD. With this new understanding, Kiki can finally access the support she needs—and make sense of why she has always felt more like an alien than a typical high school student.
Through disarmingly honest fictional anecdotes and insightful interludes that explain the specifics of ADHD, Pina Varnel shares her lived experience and hard-won knowledge.
